From pre-construction to final inspection and every step in between, DSL provides support, guidance, accountability, and quality workmanship.
Before works starts, we sit down with you to determine the best solutions for whatever you aim to accomplish. Then, we make suggestions and decide together which solutions will work best for your goals and budget. No matter the size of your job, we’ll work with you to build it right.
Outstanding workmanship.
We are meticulous when it comes to ensuring that edges are perfectly straight, mirrors and windows are precisely aligned, and all other visual aesthetics are crisp and clean. We’re also serious about keeping the construction site tidy as we work. The dedication and attention we give to every detail of our work is something you’ll see day in and day out.
Respecting your budget.
Our time-proven process for monitoring and communicating expenses throughout the construction process gives you financial predictability every step of the way. As experts in the industry, we will recommend products and materials that are both functional and affordable. And, we’ll help you weigh the intrinsic and long-term costs and values associated with your project, so you’re confident in the choices you make.
Meeting deadlines.
Knowing where things stand brings peace of mind. That’s why we provide you with a clear written schedule and weekly updates created from the state-of-the-art scheduling tools we use to monitor the status and stay on track with your project. Efficiently using your time (and ours) is the only way we do business.
People you can trust.
Our team of professionals is made up of some of the very best – and most trusted – in the industry. All of our vendors and subcontractors pass strict drug tests and background checks, and we also regularly evaluate their work to ensure they meet our high standards … and yours. In fact, our team is so loyal and talented that we have been partnering with some of the same subcontractors for more than 20 years.
Forward thinking.
With nearly 30 years in the construction industry, our tried-and-true experience will earn your confidence. Still, we take pride in always staying abreast of the latest trends, implementing the newest proven solutions, and being as environmentally conscious as possible. Whether it’s installing low voltage LED lighting, building Energy Star-approved spaces, or incorporating our certified knowledge of universal designs for safe living into your home (see sidebar), we are always finding ways to serve you better.
Built to last.
We take a hands-on, long-term approach to building and construction. Instead of cutting corners, we take the time to learn what you want and then exceed your expectations. The relationship we develop with you – and everything we create for you – is built to last.
Proud Certified Aging-in-Place Specialists (CAPS).
The Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) program was developed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and AARP in order to support the growing number of consumers who will soon require safety modifications in residential homebuilding and renovations.
CAPS brings universal design functionality to people of all ages and abilities, and can often increase the value of their homes with these low-tech, simple and inexpensive solutions. Since DSL is a designated CAP specialist, you can count on us to incorporate important safety features into your home, while tailoring them to fit your needs and tastes.
Here are some universal design tips you might consider for your new build or renovation:
- Ease access for anyone pushing a stroller, loading heavy furniture or appliances, using a walker or wheelchair, or simply carrying an armful or packages with a no-step entry.
- Provide weather protection at the entrance of your home.
- Create flat or very low thresholds at doorways and between flooring changes.
- Use 36” wide doors with lever hardware, and make hallways and stairs at least 42” wide.
- Allow for single-level living with a bathroom, bedroom and laundry on the main floor.
- Use rocker-style light switches placed no more than 42” above the floor and place outlets 20”-24” above the floor.
- Install easy-grip door, faucet and drawer hardware.
- Make appliances easily accessible from both sitting and standing positions.
- Ensure appliance controls are easy to reach, see, use and understand.
- Provide plenty of lighting throughout the home.
- Select windows that require minimal effort for opening, closing and locking functions.
- Build work surfaces at various heights to ensure functionality when sitting or standing.
- Choose a curb-less shower with a wide entry, a seat and a hand-held nozzle option.
- Install a chair-height toilet.
- Prepare the bathroom for grab bars with ¾’ plywood behind the wall board and allocate extra tile for patching when grab bars are installed.
- Include easily accessible storage such as low cabinets, full extension drawers, and open shelves with adjustable heights and rods.
